what are some of your favorite years for music?

I really liked 2002.

1960. Ornette Coleman releases Free Jazz and the world of music completely changes.

One of my all-time favorite records.

Most of the 60's. The late 70's. The Late 80's - The Early 90s.

1977 is of course the golden year. 69 as well but the entire latter-60s could go in there. I seem to recall 1997 as being pretty awesome but that was probably when I was "coming of age" so it seems more important than it was. I quite liked 2005 actually.

This year's been pretty tight.

But I think it's common knowledge that 1990s produced the best music.

Some people in here are making some really lame choices or bad jokes, I don't believe for one second that you really think that 1885 was a good year for music.

I kinda meant years that you actually lived through, but I guess I wasn't specific.

Ignoring the 'years you lived through' rule, clearly, the best years for music were the late 50's.

Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Everly Brothers, Del Shannon, The Marcels, Dion & The Belmonts, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers.

Can't beat it.

Along with: Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka, and Bobby Darrin. Those were some pretty killer years.

Clarity is definitely a sick album, but it takes way more than that to make up great year. I've never gotten into The Getup Kids.

Yeah, people keep telling me that about TGUK, but I've never heard a song that made me want to hear more. What's their best album? I'll download it and give it a shot.

To be completely honest, I don't know if I'd like the get up kids if I hadn't been 15 when I first heard them. Four Minute Mile is totally rough around the edges and pretty bad lyrically, but it's my favorite. On A Wire's probably their best written album, and most accomplished. It's my least favorite because that's just NOT what TGUK was in my eyes.
