I was listening to this the other day for the first time in a year or so, and I forgot how good it was. Literally EVERY song is good on this thing; Teenage Suicide is one of the better 90s punk songs, and the hidden track at the end is like Pink Floyd meets Tool or somethin...anyways, thought I would post this random babble.

I always liked the feel of Coffin Text off this album.

I could do without the DJ scratches in Cailin.

it has some good songs, but overall it's not THAT great.

This record's easily 4 1/2 stars on a 5-star scale in my mind. Production's so crisp and clean, and the songs fucking rule, too -- except the "sleazy whore" one (I also could do without the DJ scratches in "Cailin").

I thought Elva was really, really good, too.

I liked Elva a lot too. We might be the only ones Scott. Their last two releases were total shit though... especially the acoustic one.

I don't listen to it much, but Elva was good. I actually loved the single when it was released.

I really like the singles on Elva. I couldn't really listen to much else on it

Harmonic is one of the best opening tracks on a record, ever, right along with firecracker.

Yea, the production is great. It's a nice example of a slick recording that doesn't "sound" slick. I never got into Elva too much because I thought there was a little too much filler on it (and it was way over-produced).

Agreed, i love this album, and Harmonic truly is one of the greatest openers to an album. I liked Elva too, there is some filler that i tend to skip but when the songs are good they are really good, making up for the skippable tracks.

i did also like elva, but yeah the black album owns anything they ever did.

harmonic, teenage suicide, LONESOME, cailin (even though i'm sick of it now)...such great songs.

everclear are another band where all their best songs are crammed together in one awesome album (see: so much for the afterglow)

I'm all about the drums & didjeridoo on the last song.

Up All Night is the jam. Loved Elva, haven't heard any cd by them though that was before or after this.

Saw these dudes with sum 41 like 4 or 5 years ago, didn't think they'd be trying to sell out so bad.

Every Aussie I've ever come accross on message boards loves this band and album

Only song from this band that's worthwhile: "Lonesome." Nothing they could ever do could compare to the awesomeness that is that song.

That's a good one, but c'mon...Harmonic? California Sky? Teenage Suicide? There are tons of awesome songs on that album

I don't know if they still tour but they are from here and playing a radio station show. I'm really only going because Circa Survive is playing and I scored tickets for $10 each, but I got a little stoked to see UL was playing. Growing up in San Diego in the mid 90s, it was all about Unwritten Law and Blink if you were into punk at all. Unwritten Law was probably the bigger band in SD before Blink blew up on TRL. I think if UL followed the black album with something that took what they were doing on that album to the next level instead of dropping that turd Elva, they may have been just as big.

I agree, I thought Elva was terrible. They definitely could have taken themes from the black album to the next level, but they just dropped the ball.

Harmonic came on my iPod the other day and I moshed a little bit. That record is one of those that makes me all nostalgic for my youth. Ahhh, memories.

I saw UL so many times in the early 2000s. the show at the glasshouse in November 2000 was the first show hubby and I went to together.
