Ugh, Sinking Ships are so awful and overrated. They're this year's Latterman.

Overrated, I will give you that, but I don't think they're quite awful.

Whoa, Sinking Ships has nowhere near the hype Latterman had at all last year (or this year for that matter). Even AP.net has done at least 1 featured band slot for Latterman while maybe 2 prominent webzines have nutted over SS this year (us and pastepunk). Latterman took a considerably high (http://www.punknews.org/review/4862) spot in last year's list, while Sinking Ships MIGHT squeak in the 20 at the end of this year.

You actually have to gain some sort of notoriety before you can be judged as overrated, you know..

I don't think Latterman was overrated because No Matter Where We Go is a great album.

For Christ sake, stop posting. I've yet to seen you contribute one comment with even some semblance of intelligence.

I didn't think Pastepunk reached nutting level w/ Sinking Ships, but whatever... I fail to see how SS is anywhere near awful. Too similar to other NW bands? Perhaps, but that doesn't make it bad!

Maybe not nutted, but a positive review and a news post is way more coverage than they've gotten most anywhere else. Deservedly so, though.

Chalk this comment up to hardcore bands getting 20k to record 23 minute albums. Hardcore albums aren't meant to sound like sonic masterpieces and in fact some of the best hardcore albums sound like complete dogshit. With that said, if you even remotely pay attention to what Revelation puts out you should know that just about everything they release sounds like it was recorded in about a week. With a few exceptions being

Farside - The Monroe Doctrine
Elliot - False Cathedrals
Kiss It Goodbye - Choke

Red Medicine is producing some of the most mind-boggling comments of all time considering his username is A FUCKING FUGAZI ALBUM. Shouldn't you know this shit?

Red Medicine
08-28-2006, 11:21 PM
Fugazi isn't even remotely close to being a hardcore band (save maybe a few of their earlier songs). Their only "raw-sounding" album is Killtaker, and that description only applies to half the album.

No, I don't listen to much hardcore, but the bands I do like (Paint It Black, Snapcase, Boysetsfire) have great-sounding albums. And fuck Revelation Records if they purposely try to give the albums they put out a muddled sound.

He stated that he thought Sinking Ships was overrated, albeit with little support of his statement, and everyone jumped down his throat like Sinking Ships was sent down to earth by god.

I wasn't referring to hardcore by "this shit." I meant general knowledge regarding punk rock and its various offshoots.
